NM Fingerprint Requirements

This is a quick note about the fingerprint requirements for New Mexico CCW. All of this is written in the NM Booklet, but let me break it down to make it easier to understand.

The overall process is rather simple:

  1. Register online and print out the receipt for getting the fingerprints.
  2. Go to one of the locations on the Gemalto site and get the electronic fingerprints done.
  3. Get a receipt that the fingerprints are done and submit that with your Conceal Carry Application with the state.

If you have not done electronic fingerprints for CCW in NM, you will need to do so by following these steps:

  1. Go to the NM DPS CCU website. or Call 1-877-966-6277.
  2. There you will see a link for Fingerprints, which is here.
  3. Once you are on the Gemalto website, click Register for an online background check link near the top. Follow the steps.
    • Military, use the second code – DPS CCW LAW ENF APP.
    • For most everyone else, use the first code – DPS CCW CIVILIAN APP.
  4. Double click the selection and it should be on the form.
  5. Cost:
    • $44 for Most People
    • $8.30 for Military and Law Enforcement.
  6. You will need to do the online portion first, then take the printout to the fingerprint location of choice.
  7. After your fingerprints are taken, you will receive another printout that states you completed this. These receipt needs to go with your NM Concealed Carry application.
