Defensive Shooting Fundamentals – What To Expect

USCCA Defensive Shooting Fundamentals Level 1 Information

Course Cost: $285.00($303.28 with Tax), payable as follows:

  •  To register, go to my website at Vigilant Firearms Training or email me. If you have already ordered the eLearning, contact me. If you are paying using other means, such as cash, please contact me before purchase to avoid confusion.

$35.00 Purchase of eLearning Course

  •  Call 1-877-577-4800 for purchase of Defensive Shooting Fundamentals Student Packet and eLearning course.  Advise them that you are taking the USCCA Defensive Shooting Fundamentals Course with me, Keith Kolb. 
  • This purchase MUST must be purchased 2 weeks prior to register for the class. 

Phase I – eLearning Course

  • The eLearning course consists of 8 hours of online learning. 
  • This eLearning must be completed prior to the range date and a copy of the certificate of completion should be sent to the instructor prior to allowing students to attend the range portion of training. 
  • It takes a few business days to receive your books and eLearning website access once you call USCCA.

Phase II – USCCA Defensive Shooting Fundamentals Live Fire Phase

  • The entire Phase II portion is conducted on the range over a 8-hour period.  A lunch break will be given, but due to lack of available food services, you need to bring a lunch. 
  • Dress appropriately and bring drinks.  Water will be provided. 
  • All levels of students are welcome to attend!. 
  • All student should bring the following:
    • 300 Rounds of Ammunition Minimum
    • Ear and Eye Protection
    • A Firearm
    • Holster
    • 2 Extra Magazines
    • Carrier or Pouch
    • For Revolvers, 2 speed loaders and carrier/ pouch is required
    • USCCA Defensive Shooting Fundamentals Book, a Highlighter, and a Notepad. 
  • Students will run through various shooting and range exercises designed to improve their ability to defend themselves in a dynamic critical incident. Topics covered include:
    • Presenting from the ready position
    • Presenting from the holster
    • Point shooting vs sight alignment shooting
    • Balance of Speed and Precision
    • Cognitive Response to a target
    • a simulation to test your skills at the end of the day
  • This training is conducted at Del Norte Gun Club at 208 Torcida Rd, Rio Rancho, NM 87144.  Everyone will meet at Kings Meadow Park, 3601 King Boulevard Northeast, Rio Rancho, NM 87144, at 7:30 am on range day on at the western end of King Blvd where the road turns from pavement to dirt.  I will meet you there and then lead you out to the range.
